You should settle down now, they said. Don’t go too wild and extreme with your travels, they said.
Save plenty before you set out to see the world. But an Indian passport won’t take you too far anyway, they said.
About the Postcard Chaser
My name is Zulekha. I am an Indian female in my 30’s. I live in Dubai. I travel wherever and as often as I can. Life is too short to waste away on the couch watching Netflix or letting naysayers kill your vibe.
I’ve climbed active volcanoes around the world, camped near the forgotten pyramids of Sudan, swam between continental plates in Iceland and rode horses with the Mongols and the Kyrgyz herdsmen (sorry Mom!).
Offbeat travel on a budget to not-so-popular destinations excites me just as much as road trips with my girlfriends through Europe or soaking in a hot jacuzzi under the Aurora Borealis with my family.
I’m happier counting adventures and experiences over countries, but just for fun, I thought I’d give myself a new #100by40 travel goal. I’ve been to 80 countries and have 20 more to go before I turn 40. But like most of you, I’m writing off 2020 altogether.
Looks like I may have to set a new #100bywhenever goal soon…. *sigh*
Why am I Chasing Postcardz ?
A small ritual. From every country I visit, I send myself a postcard with messages from friends and strangers that I’ve met on the road. It’s my little surprise gift to myself. After a week or a month, when the postcard arrives and I read those messages, it’s pure joy. It brings back all the inside jokes, silly moments and wonderful memories from the trip shared with amazing travel buddies. Puts a smile on my face and gives me a reason to get on a flight and chase some more amazing stories. And postcards.
This blog is an earnest, first-hand account of everything that moves me, inspires me or has changed me during my travels. You may occasionally also find my recommendations on cities, sites, activities and accommodations that I’ve stumbled upon and absolutely loved.
Read on, get inspired, and don’t let anyone tell you that life is not made for crazy adventures once in a while.
P.S: In case you haven’t figured already, the “z” in “Chasing Postcardz” is simply the initial of my first name.
Too many countries. Too little time.
From weekend travel to week-long road trips and everything in between. I love trekking with strangers and planning road trips with friends. Just as long as it’s off beat.
